As the Clinical Manager role is “the job that gets the most thrown on its plate, [including] overseeing field staff, handling referrals, family, physicians, developing plans of care, reviewing paperwork, and OASIS,” it is imperative to hire the right candidate for the position (Eric Scharber).
Hiring field nurses, developing them and setting them up to become Clinical Managers can be advantageous for a company in Home Care and Hospice, as costs can be reduced and company morale and productivity can remain high.
“Turning over a highly skilled job on average costs a company 213 percent of the cost of one year’s compensation” (Jack Altman, Huffington Post).
Regarding productivity and company morale, a Dale Carnegie study reported, “70 percent of employees who lack confidence in the abilities of senior leadership are not fully engaged.” By hiring the right candidate for the position the first time around, companies can maintain morale, productivity and employee engagement.
